Here’s some heartbreaking news pouring in. Director Nishikant Kamat is no more. According to reports, the filmmaker-actor passed away in a private hospital in Hyderabad. Last week, Nishikant Kamat was hospitalized after a relapse of the cirrhosis of liver.
Nishikant made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Marathi film, Dombivali Fast, in 2005. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2006.
The filmmaker made his directorial debut in Bollywood with John Abraham’s Force. He also helmed the Hindi remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in 2015.
Besides directing films, Nishikant also worked as an actor in films like Saatchya Aat Gharat, Rocky Handsome, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Fugay and Julie 2.
Meanwhile, celebrities like Hansal Mehta and Sonal Chauhan took to their respective social media handles to mourn his demise.
Hansal Mehta tweeted, “Nishi. I will miss you my friend. This is a dreadful year.”
“OMG !!!! Just heard about #nishikantkamat sir’s demise. These are truly the worst times ever. May he rest in peace. Strength to the family. #ripnishikantkamat,” read Sonal Chauhan’s tweet.
